Last week, a group of PoVE partners gathered in Malta for an intensive and inspiring training week focused on immersive learning, creativity and collaboration. Coming from different countries and backgrounds, we came together with a shared goal: to explore new ways of learning and teaching through immersive technologies.
Throughout the week, the programme blended theory and practice. We explored interactive course design, developed immersive storytelling concepts, and got hands on experience with VR Studio tools. From brainstorming sessions to filming immersive content, the workshops encouraged experimentation, teamwork and learning by doing. Just as valuable as the tools themselves was the exchange of ideas, experiences and perspectives between partners.
Malta offered more than just a training space. Its unique island context became part of the learning experience. One of the highlights of the week was a trip across the sea to Gozo, where we visited a water treatment plant. This visit provided real world insight into how water management works on a Mediterranean island with limited natural resources, reinforcing the importance of sustainability, innovation and responsible use of water.
Beyond the sessions and site visits, the week was filled with meaningful conversations, shared reflections and moments of connection. From coffee breaks to collaborative problem solving, the atmosphere fostered trust, curiosity and creativity.
With sun, sea and a strong sense of collaboration, Malta proved to be the perfect setting for this PoVE training week. We left with new skills, fresh inspiration and strengthened partnerships, ready to bring what we learned back into our own contexts.
