Thesis: Development and implementation of a virtual reality-based training solution for the water sector

This thesis was written in the framework of the PoVE Water project and it's results will be used to develop the use of VR in the water sector even further.

By Richard Zviedris

The bachelor thesis "Development and Implementation of a Virtual Reality Based Training Solution in the Water Sector" explores the development opportunities and trends of virtual reality in the context of the water sector, as well as a comparative study of virtual reality software. The aim of the work is to investigate the development and application trends of Virtual Reality (VR) in the water sector and to develop an experimental VR-based training software prototype for the water sector. The theoretical basis of the work consists of a review of the basic principles, terminology, history, hardware and software of virtual reality. In the practical part of the bachelor thesis, a methodology for the development and implementation of a VRbased training solution is developed, and an experimental prototype of the training solution is created. The prototype of the training solution implements the assembly and disassembly of a water pump, achieved by providing the user with the possibility to interact with a 3D model of the water pump.
