“I have been to karst areas before, but not as impressive as these ones.”

Colin, a Dutch student from Yuverta, participated in the Water Days 2025, organized by Mendel University in Brno. During the event, students from different countries came together to learn more about water systems and environmental challenges.

Together with his team, Colin joined several field trips to investigate local water sources. The group analyzed whether the water was clean or contaminated, gaining hands-on experience with real environmental research in the field.

For Colin, the experience was not only educational but also personal. Through the Water Days, he learned more about the water situation in the Czech Republic and had the opportunity to connect with students from different backgrounds, creating new friendships along the way.

For students thinking about joining the 2026 edition, Colin has simple advice:

“Go into the Water Days with an open mind and be open to also look at things from a different perspective.”

Events like Water Days show how international collaboration and practical learning can help students better understand the challenges surrounding water sustainability.
